House washing and soft washing in Portland and nearby

Our crew soft washes houses in Portland, in Sumner County, and across the rest of our six-town area. The green and black streaks on the shady side of a house are growth, not dirt, and they're best treated rather than blasted: a cleaning solution at low pressure, time to work, then a rinse.

What a house wash covers

  • Vinyl siding
  • Painted siding and trim
  • Soffits and fascia
  • Gutter faces, outside
  • Porches, columns and porch ceilings
  • Brick walls and porch floors

The method

Soft washing, not blasting

High pressure on vinyl can drive water behind the panels and into the wall, and on painted wood it can lift the paint. Soft washing avoids both. The solution does the work that pressure would otherwise do, and the rinse is gentle enough for siding, trim and window frames.

Most houses are more than one surface. A brick skirt along the bottom, a concrete porch floor or a wooden rail each get the method that suits them, rather than one setting for the whole house.

The walls that stay shaded and damp are usually where the streaks show first, which is why the back and north sides of a house often look worse than the front.

Before the wash

What helps on the day

Close the windows, and move anything you care about off the porch and away from the walls. Point out any beds or plants you want extra care around when we arrive.

If you know about a loose siding panel, a failing window seal or an outlet without a cover, mention it when you call or when we arrive. It changes how that part of the house is washed, and it is far better to know before the water is running.

A house wash can be booked on its own, or alongside the roof, the driveway or the deck. Ask for everything you want when you request a quote and it comes back as one price.

FAQ

House washing questions

Is a house wash the same as pressure washing?
Not quite. Pressure washing relies on the force of the water. A house wash is a soft wash: low pressure and a cleaning solution, because siding and paint do not hold up well to force.
How long does a house wash take?
It depends on the size of the house, how many stories it has and how much growth is on it. You will get an idea of the time along with the quote.
Can you wash the driveway on the same visit?
Yes. Ask for both when you request a quote. The driveway is cleaned with a different method, but it can be done the same day.
Which towns do you do house washing in?
Westmoreland, Portland, White House, Springfield, TN, Bethpage and Franklin, KY. Each has its own page, linked at the bottom of this one.
